FAKE adapts faster than most people can blink. In one moment you are loose and intimate. In the next you are composed, reliable, and perfectly calibrated for the new audience. You do not switch masks because you are empty. You switch because survival trained you to. The strange part is that after enough switching, the masks themselves start to feel like the closest thing to a complete self.
